TF Green strengthens accessibility with new indoor navigation app

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island’s busiest airport will be showcasing a new one-of-a-kind feature looking to make accessibility easier for all passengers including those with disabilities, language barriers, or travel anxiety.

The new innovative feature called GoodMaps has officially landed at TF Green.

The indoor navigation app is designed to increase accessibility for all of its passengers making it an inclusive space.

The app was created to help passengers including blind or low vision passengers, deaf or hard of hearing passengers, non-native language speakers and neurodiverse travelers.

With the help of LiDAR indoor mapping and AI technology, GoodMaps uses camera-based positioning to help identify a user’s location using turn-by-turn directions without any added equipment.

A live demonstration will start Wednesday morning at 10 at the airport.
