Brown University shooting person of interest described as man in 20s from Wisconsin

UPDATE 12-14 11:30 p.m. — The person of interest was released.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — ABC News reports that the person of interest who was taken into custody in connection with the Brown University shooting on Dec. 13 is a man in his 20s from Wisconsin.

CNN reports that the man is Benjamin Erickson.

He also transferred to Brown for the Fall 2025 semester but it was not said if he attended.

The shooting resulted in two deaths and nine injuries.

Officials said that one of the victims had already been discharged from the hospital, but not all victim families have been notified due to travel issues.

The university had also cancelled all classes and exams and allowed students to leave campus.
