BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island SPCA is offering a $1,000 reward in connection to the malicious killing of a turkey in Burrillville.

Investigators are sharing photos of the turkey in an effort to identify those responsible for inhumanely slaughtering the bird.

Video purportedly shows the turkey getting hit twice with a bat.

“It’s horrendous to see something like that. Despite the fact that it’s a turkey but it’s still a living creature and no living creature should be subjected to that kind of cruelty,” said Dr. E.J. Finocchio of the RISPCA. “There had to be four or five people who were witness to this crime. So hopefully one of them will come forward. They’re all as guilty as the person who did this because they were there seeing this take place.”

Anyone with information should contact the RISPCA at Law Enforcement Officer at 401-438-8150 ext. 6 or email them at cruelty@RISPCA.com.
